The Deutscher Floating Verband (DFV) is active in promoting research, standards and business development within Germany’s floatation community. On the research side, the DFV collects and catalogs existing research data, encourages and supports university research and participates in international research projects. The DFV was also a Gold Level Sponsor of the Float Summit floatation research and business conference held in Gothenburg, Sweden in April 2012.

One of the association’s main commercial goals is to make floating more affordable by reducing the VAT (Value Added Tax) status of floatation systems and floatation services. The DFV monitors regulatory changes such as the classification of isolation tanks, float rooms and other manufactured floatation systems within the German (DIN) and European standardization programs. The DFV’s contributions extend beyond Germany and the association has made many of its resources available in English.
